Kids Say the Darndest Things

I love when people share stories about the funny things their kids say. It always gives me a good laugh. Sometimes, I laugh because children often perceive certain situations in the wrong way, but often, they shock me with their understanding of other subjects! "How in the world does he know that?" I know C has made me say that on more than one occasion!

You see, lately, he's been asking more and more questions, on deep philosophical topics such as life, death, and happiness. Even still, I was surprised when he asked me how he got here. Thinking quickly, I told him that he grew in my "belly." He accepted the answer without much hesitation, and we went on about our day without another mention of the subject.

A few days later, he approached me, visibly upset. I pulled him close and asked him what was wrong, to which he replied, "I really wish you didn't eat me when I was a baby!"

I could barely contain my laughter. Once I composed myself, I explained to him that I didn't eat him, but that he grew from an egg that was inside of my body. Again, he took my answer and went on about his day.

I'm just waiting for the moment that he tells all of his friends that he used to be an egg.

"And this is me when I was a baby..."

Boy, I have my hands full.
