Thank You Thursday: My Son

This week has dragged on for me. It could be because I found out that I was pregnant on Saturday. Based on my experience, when you're pregnant, time drags on and on for those 9 months until you give birth. And then time flies by faster than you can blink. Before you know it, your "baby" is starting school. And then he's in high school. And then he's dating. And then he's married. And then you have grandkids.

Carter has grown up so fast. In 4 days, he will turn 5-years-old. I still can't believe it. He starts kindergarten in August. That's only two months away. He's not even a baby anymore. Not even a toddler. He's a kid! It's surreal! It's amazing! It's, well, saddening at the same time. He's growing up! One day, he won't need me like he needs me now.

Ah...but that is what makes parenting worthwhile, huh? To see that the child you raised has grown up to be a respectable, responsible adult. To watch him grow up and raise a family of his own, using some of your tactics that he deemed "unfair" when he was a kid or a teenager.

Today, I want to take the time out to thank my son. He was the motivation I needed to turn my life around, to change for the better. He helped me to realize things that I'd never even thought of before, such as the importance of my relationship with my parents and how critical it is to be a positive role model.

Carter, you are my life. My love. My reason.

I love you, baby boy.
