12 Reasons Why Fall is Awesome

Fall is my favorite season of all--for numerous reasons--one of which being the cool temperatures. Lately, we've been (well, I've been) enjoying unseasonably cool temps, with highs in the mid-70s and lows in the 50s. While my fellow Ohioans complain about having to wear Northface in July, I'm loving every second of these fall-like temperatures. With that said, I'd like to share with you a few reasons why fall is the best season of the year here in Ohio.

1. Short Sleeves by Day, Hoodies by Night

I prefer wearing jeans and a t-shirt during the day, but at night, I like to cozy up in a long-sleeved sweatshirt or hoodie. The fall temperatures in the Midwest make it comfortable to do both within 8 hours of one another. Not only that, but if you like to sun-bathe, the temperatures in the day (during the late months of September) are typically warm enough to lie out, while the temps at night are cool enough to enjoy a bonfire comfortably.

2. Cuddling

If night rolls around and I want to leave my windows open to let in a cool breeze, it provides me with the perfect opportunity to snuggle up with my husband and kids. And there is nothing better than having the arms of those I love wrapped around me, all the while, keeping each other warm.

3. Seasonal Beer

Blue Moon Seasonal Collection. Harvest Moon Pumpkin Ale. 'Nuff said.

4. Sweet Corn

There is nothing better than sweet corn, fresh off of the cob, recently harvested and straight from your local Farmer's Market. Delicious, delectable, and delightful.

5. Festivals

Between Halloween and Harvest festivals, I could stay busy for the entire season. Not to mention, I love funnel cake and deep-fried everything. It isn't good for my diet, but you know--moderation.

6. Fall Fashion

Boots, cardigans, and scarves! Oh my! If you know me, you know that I love my scarves. I mourn the summer as I have to put them away for a few months...but right when September rolls around, I break those bad boys right back out again. Oh yes. And boots? Break out the knee-highs!

7. Back to School

I used to hate when summer was over as a child, but now that my son is school-age and I school him from home, it helps us get back into a routine. Not to mention, I find teaching him to be fun, and it gives me something to do without feeling bored all day long. I'll rethink that mid-year, but for now, I'm happy.

8. Pumpkins

Who doesn't love pumpkin? Everything about it is refreshing to me; the color, the scent, the taste. I love pumpkin pie milkshakes, roasted pumpkin seeds, pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake, and pumpkin roll. I love visiting pumpkin patches, picking out pumpkins, and carving pumpkins. Pumpkin is what's to love about fall.

9. Dense Fog

Dense fog on a crisp fall morning is incredibly peaceful, yet ominous at the same time. I don't know what it is, but it makes me want to write a horror novel.

10. The Smell of the Air

The aroma of decaying leaves may not sound appealing, but that earthy smell that's left behind is intoxicating! I also love the way the leaves crunch beneath my feet.
