I don't know if it's the warm weather or my hectic mood, but whatever it is, it's keeping my son from going to sleep at a decent hour.
His bedtime was at 9 p.m., or 8 p.m. if he wanted to watch a movie. For the past few nights, he's been staying up until after 11 p.m. and it is making it incredibly difficult to get any of my writing out of the way. Not to mention, I can't even get to sleep at a decent hour because he stays awake, and insists that I am at his side until he falls asleep.
I used to write articles and schedule my blog posts after he went to bed, but now, that's just not happening. It's nearly impossible to even sit down without him hollering, "Mooommmmy!" I feel like I've tried everything. I mean, we even bought him a new bed (not because of the sleep thing, but because he grew out of his old one)! I've tried wearing him out by playing tag and hide-and-seek, which, apparently, only makes me tired. I've tried preventing him from taking naps. I've tried the no-sugar-before-bed. I've tried talking to him about the importance of sleep. I'm at a loss!
I don't know where I went wrong, but something obviously happened to cause this. Right? Or do kids do this on a regular basis? Geeze...
It is getting very frustrating. And I'm starting to feel exactly how I look when I wake up---like crap. Maybe tomorrow I'll be able to sneak in a power nap at the table while he's eating breakfast? Ha! And wake up with cereal in my hair? I think not.
