Scenic Sunday: Carriage Hill

Happy Mother's Day!

Being a stay-at-home mom gets lonely sometimes. Last year, my mom called me up and, knowing my situation, invited C and me to go out with her to Carriage Hill to get us out of the house (and to allow me to enjoy time with another adult, lol).

Carriage Hill is a little farm, established in the 1800s, in Huber Heights, Ohio. They have a fishing lake, a horse riding center, farm animals, hiking trails, log cabin and an old schoolhouse replica, and a candy store where you can buy 100 Swedish Fish for a buck (along with other candies that you don't see much anymore; jawbreakers, pixie sticks, rock candy). We used to go there when we were kids, and my sister and I even went fishing with our boyfriends (yes, my current husband, and my sister is still with her boyfriend today).

We had no idea that rain was in the forecast that day, and before we knew it, we were drenched. But mom didn't care. She was determined to have a good time so we stayed and laughed the whole time. We fed animals, went to the little school house, and fooled around with C. We had lunch in the farmhouse and watched the birds. They came right to us and C loved it.

That's a memory of time spent with my mom that I'll never forget. And Carriage Hill is a place I'll never forget.

A mama sheep and her baby lamb.

C enjoying himself in the rain.

What's the best memory that you have of your mother?
