Four Ways You Can Spice Up Your Beach Vacation

When it comes to beach vacations, not everybody is content to spend their time lying on the beach. If that sounds a lot like you, here are some tips that will help you make that beach trip a little more exciting.

Try Water Sports

If you’re the sort of person who likes to stay active even when they’re on vacation, you could consider trying out water sports - after all, what’s the point in being by the ocean if all you’re going to do is spend a few minutes splashing around in there? You can get surfing lessons at most popular beaches, and you could also try windsurfing for an added thrill. Jet skis are a lot of fun, but make sure you get good instruction on how to use them before letting yourself loose - they’re very highly powered and can be dangerous if you aren’t absolutely certain on how to use them.

What About A Boat?

If you want to explore the local beaches and coves that are a little out of the ordinary and off the beaten track, there’s nothing better than hiring your own boat. Boating is a great way to find beaches that aren’t always reachable by land, meaning that tourists won’t be there and you might even get the beach all to yourself. Boats are also great because you can do a lot of sunbathing and relaxing on them as well as on the beach, which is perfect if you’re the sort of person who isn’t keen on sand or if the area where you’re staying has pebbled beaches which are uncomfortable to lie on. With boats you can also explore the water a little further off shore, so you can go snorkeling or diving in deeper waters and get to know the local marine life.

Try The Local Cuisine

A lot of people go for all-inclusive trips, meaning that all their food and drink is provided by them for the hotel they’re staying at. It’s time to break away from that - instead, make sure you try out the local cuisine. If you’re at the beach, chances are there will be particularly excellent and fresh seafood that will knock the socks of whatever fish you eat when you’re at home. Delicacies like crab and lobster are also a lot more reasonably priced when you’re by the water and they’re easier to get hold of. Make sure that you go to bars, cafes and restaurants that are frequented by locals instead of tourists.

Speak The Language

Finally, stretch your mental abilities by trying to speak some of the language of wherever you’re visiting. Speaking Spanish to actual Spaniards or Mexicans might be a little frightening but people really appreciate it when you make an effort - nobody wants to be that person speaking English insultingly loudly and slowly to local people. Download Duolingo a few weeks before you go so that you can grasp the basics. You might also find that you feel a lot more confident when you’re away - you’ll be able to ask simple questions like where the bathrooms are, and you’ll be able to order food and drink more easily.

Your beach trip doesn’t just have to be your standard tourist fare - these tips should help you have the best time ever.
