Subtle Signs that your Diet is All Wrong

If your diet isn’t great then you may find that you put on weight, but this isn’t the only thing that you need to look out for. You also need to look out for other tell-tale signs, and this can include the following:

Bad Breath

Bad breath often happens as a result of ketosis. When the body doesn’t have enough glucose for energy, it burns stored fat instead. This results in a build-up of acids known as ketones which can make your breath smell bad. Doctors say that those who eat a diet that’s low in carbohydrates are far more likely to experience ketosis. If you want to help yourself here, then you need to increase your portion sizes so that you can get the energy you need. It also helps to cut down on coffee and smoking, as this will also have an impact on your health overall.

Bad Skin

If you have too much fat in your diet, this can lead to greasy or spotty skin. You may also experience problems like acne too. If this is becoming an issue for you, it helps to eliminate fat from your diet while also trying an acne gel to immediately relieve some of the symptoms.

Thinning Hair

Iron is used to produce red blood cells. If you are low on iron, then you may find that your hair thins and that you feel constantly lethargic. One way for you to boost your iron intake would be for you to eat more green vegetables, such as broccoli or even spinach. Pulses are also ideal here, and they can include kidney beans, lentils and chickpeas.

Cracks in the Corner of your Mouth

Cracks or cuts in the corner of your mouth can also signify a problem with your diet. This could be a sign of iron deficiency or it could mean that you have a bacterial or even a skin infection. If you want to help yourself here, then it’s a good idea to use some chapstick or another kind of lubricant until the cuts can heal.

Low Energy

If you eat a lot of carbohydrates such as sugar, you may find that you feel very sluggish and that you’re also low on energy too. The main reason for this is because sugar will boost your insulin levels, and this can cause you to crash. A lot of people try and counter this by eating even more sugar, and the roller coaster continues. If you want to help yourself here then you need to try and avoid eating sugar as much as possible. This will cause your insulin levels to stabilize and this will work wonders for your energy levels in general. If you do struggle with energy in the day, try and focus on eating snacks that release energy slowly, such as bananas or even nuts.

Urinating too Often

If you have a full bladder then this is your brain’s way of telling you that it’s time to go. If your urine is too concentrated on the other hand, then this can have the same effect. You may find that your bladder becomes irritated and that you need to keep on going to the bathroom, even though you don’t feel as though you need it. The only way for you to counter this would be to drink more water. You ideally want your urine to look more clear than yellow, as this is a good sign that you are getting enough water in your diet. Caffeine can also affect the chemical receptors in the bladder too. It can irritate it and cause you to go way more frequently. If you want to find out if this is the case, then consider eliminating caffeine from your diet and try to keep an eye on your bathroom habits.

Acid Reflux

Acid reflux tends to affect the ring muscle at the bottom of your esophagus. Normally, the ring muscle at the bottom opens to let food through, and then tightens to stop any acid from coming back up. If you have acid reflux however this can cause stomach acid to come back up into the esophagus, leading to heartburn. One of the main causes of this happening is being overweight, smoking or drinking a lot of alcohol. If you suspect that this is the case, then this shows that a change needs to be made. The problem is only going to get worse if you don’t and this is the last thing that you need when you are trying to monitor your health.
