What's Your Fall Skincare Routine?

Fall has officially arrived, which means that cold, crisp air isn't far behind. As the seasons begin to get colder, the air starts to get dryer — and that equals dry skin! Skincare routines are important, but they become especially important as the weather changes and humidity levels drop.

I've been talking about Lexli Skincare a lot lately, including my daily skincare routine and how these products have improved my skin. The products have proved themselves worthy, which is why I'm so excited to share them with you. And, because skincare is so important to me, I feel that it only makes sense to encourage others to develop their own routine. For the basics, check out The Dos and Don'ts of Taking Care of Your Skin.

Today, I'm again talking about skincare and how you can create your own fall skincare routine and why it's important.

As the fall and winter months come along, the moisture in the air begins to disappear. This prevents your body from soaking up any of that moisture, leaving it dry and cracked. If you don't take care of your skin especially during the winter months, and provide it with some of that much-needed moisture, you're going to end up with dull, lackluster skin.

Fortunately, when dry skin is caused by environmental factors, it's fairly easy to control. You can dry brush to remove dead skin, take cooler baths or showers, and use products to help restore moisture that you may have lost.

The important thing is that you're using products that don't strip your body of it's natural oils because that is just defeating the purpose of skincare — and it could lead to even more skin problems.

Lexli Skincare products are aloe-based and none of the products included in this blog post contain alcohol. They're designed to help your skin retain moisture instead of stripping it of the natural oils that it produces. Most of these products are also pH balance, so they will not disrupt your body's natural acid mantle.

Here are the products that I'm currently using for my fall skincare routine:

Face Wash

The Lexli Aloe-Based Cleansing Lotion is gentle on the skin. It goes on smoothly to remove any dirt, debris, sweat, or makeup. Simply wet the face, pump the product once into the hands, and then apply directly to the face using upward and outward motions. Once you've sufficiently washed your face, go ahead and rinse and then pat-dry using a microfiber cloth.

This product will not strip your face (or body — yes, it doubles as a body wash!) of its natural oils. It will leave your skin smelling fresh, looking smooth, and feeling clean.

For more information on washing your face, be sure to check out my Face Washing 101 post that covers the basics.

Sometimes washing your face isn't enough and that's where toner comes in. Toner is used to remove any debris or makeup that might be left behind after washing. It's also designed to soothe the skin. Lexli's Tone & Balance is pH balanced, which means it will not interfere with your skin's natural acidity.

Toner can be applied with a cotton round, but because Lexli Tone & Balance has a convenient spray nozzle, you can simply spray it on. Simply wipe off any excess using a cotton round to remove any extra dirt that's left behind.

After you've washed and toned your skin, you can then go on to exfoliate. Exfoliating everyday isn't necessary for everyone. I prefer to exfoliate only once per week. However, if you desire, Lexli Aloe-Based AloeGlyC is gentle enough to be used daily.

It is not a mechanical exfoliant like apricot scrubs or walnut scrubs — it works similarly to a chemical peel without the extra irritation.

Just apply it directly to the face and do not rinse it off. You can apply other products directly over it.

AloeGlyC is designed to remove dead skin cells and stimulate skin cells, leading to radiant, smooth skin.

After exfoliating, you can apply any serums that you use. Serums are excellent for fall skincare because they help lock in moisture and prevent skin from drying out. I use the Aloe-Based A-Firm-Ative, which is a peptide serum that helps with wrinkles and fine lines.

I use this product on my neck, forehead, around the corners of the eyes, and on my "laugh lines."

If you don't use a serum regularly, I highly recommend using a serum during the dryer months to prevent dry patches and water loss.

While I feel that washing your face is one of the most important things you could do for your skin, the second most important thing is to moisturize. If you're not regularly moisturizing your skin, especially during the colder months, you can almost guarantee that you're going to end up with dry skin, fine lines, and wrinkles.

Lexli Night Moisturizer can be used day or night, but it's designed to prevent transepidermal water loss while you sleep. I use it in the morning and the night and it works great for both. If, however, you prefer a day moisturizer as well, Lexli has you covered.

Eye Cream

The final step in any skincare routine should be an eye cream. I wish I had started applying an eye cream when I turned 25 — maybe then I wouldn't have such tired looking eyes — but I didn't. It's a good thing that it's never too late to start taking care of your skin.

The Lexli Revital-Eyes Rejuvenating eye cream is designed for the delicate, sensitive skin around the eyes. It soothes, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, moisturizers, and reduces redness and under-eye circles. This is one of my favorite products out of the bunch because I love the way that it feels on my eyes after I take off any eye makeup. It's so soothing.

To recap, any basic fall skincare routine should consist of the following products:

  • Face Wash
  • Toner (Alcohol-Free)
  • Exfoliant
  • Serum
  • Moisturizer
  • Eye Cream

If you'd like to see how I use all of these products in my skincare routine, check out the video below. It's a super simple tutorial with a little additional information on each of the products mentioned in this blog post.

So, tell me about your skincare routine? What are your must-have products?
